Photographs and Reports of our activities
This is a collection of photos and reports of our rehearsals, performances and social events. We have received a lot of positive feedback from events. Our members seem to have fun and our audiences are always complimentary so we must be doing something right! The great thing about our choir is that although we are a complete mix of ages and interests, we all enjoy each others company .
On December 15th we sang some Christmas carols at the care home in Kexby and raised nearly £80 from the generous donations of residents and staff, for St leonard's Hospice.
In readiness for Christmas, on 7th December 2024 we held our annual Christmas concert, this time in St John the Baptist's church in Stamford Bridge. Despite the best efforts of storm Darragh to make everyone stay at home, we had a packed church. In addition to the usual carols and a few readings we also had mince pies, mulled wine and a raffle. The charity we supported this year was St Leonard's Hospice raising just over £560 for them.
On November 3rd 2024 we sang evensong at St Nicholas' church, Dunnington. In addition to the usual hymns we also sang some Stanford, Smith's preces and responses, Stone's Lord's Prayer and Chilcott's Irish blessing. The star of the show, though, must have been Britten's lively Jubilate Deo in C.
Just before Easter 2024, we gave a concert, followed by evensong, at St Nicholas' Church, Dunnington. There was a good turnout with appreciative comments from members of the audience and congregation with a programme that took a slice through musical history. Click here to see the programme.

Many thanks go to our standin and standout photographer, Neil Barrett.
We are delighted to be able to tell you that our Christmas 2023 fund-raising totalled £233 for The Besom in York, made up of half the plate collection at the Lessons and Carols and all the bucket collection at The Oddfellows Arms carol singing. Thank you again to all who took part in either or both of the events.
It's Christmas! We had our carol concert on Sunday 17th December at St Oswald's Church, Fulford. In addition to the usual congregational carols, the choir sang a splendid selection of more unusual and interesting anthems.

Our rehearsal accompanist, Nicholas, played the organ and gave us an inspiring rendition of "Final" from the first symphony by Louis Vierne. Many of us had never heard this work before and Nicholas had a crowd of enthusiasts around the organ before he'd finished.

Nicholas is a very accomplished organist but we rarely get to hear him play. So this was a real treat for the choir.
On the 2nd December 2023 we sang in the heated (thank you!!) church of All Saints, Low Catton, at the wedding of John Edward Etty and Victoria Amy Lees. As you can see from the image, this was a small choir that was designed just to help the congregation.
We were particularly happy to sing at this event because the groom's nephew, Ben, sang with us for many years.
On Sunday 20th March 2022 the choir presented a children's concert followed by Choral evensong at St Nicholas Church Dunnington.

On Thursday 30th September 2021, just over 18 months since the last time the choir had sung for an event, a small number of singers sang for the wedding of Sam and Sarah in the wonderful venue of York minster.
